I
guess I should start off by talking about myself. I’ve been running for a few
months and have completed a few 5ks and a 7k. I have a 10k coming up and
recently signed up for a 10miler and a ½ marathon (more on all those later). I
guess you can say that I have jumped completely into this “running thing” and I
have to say I completely LOVE it! I used to say that I only run if I’m being
chased, but not anymore! I have been “big-boned” (a nice way of saying obese)
my whole life and have tried (what seems like) every diet and workout plan. I
would lose weight, but then gain it and more back once I stopped following the
plan. I was going to the gym 2 to 3 times a week and “watching what I ate” but
didn’t see any results. When I moved this spring, there were no gyms nearby, so
I was on the hunt for a new workout that I could do without a gym. At the same
time, I had been looking for a eating lifestyle that I could follow long term
and wanted the same thing for my workout. I looked around and noticed that
there were runners at every age in races and on the trails. I figured that I
would try it and found the Couch to 5k program and signed up for my 1st 5k (Bastille Day 5k on 7/12/2012). I did the 1st workout (run 60 seconds, walk 90 seconds) and
felt like I was going to die after the 1st 60 seconds – honestly it was only after like 15
seconds of running. But I kept with it. I mean I had already paid for the race
and wanted to finish it! Day after day, week after week I followed the plan and
finished the race in 45:05 and I was in hooked!
So
here goes. These are my adventures in running!
