Goals for 2013

As I mentioned, I’m not a fan of resolutions. I like the term goals better….and I’m not 100% sure why. Maybe because resolutions have a built in excuse not to finish them…..or just because I like to be able to add new goals throughout the year and it’s just odd to say I have a Fall Resolution or I just set a new resolution for the month of May….Anyways, enough rambling and here are my goals:

Fitness/Running:
Goal #1: Run over 600 miles in the yea -- I should be able to do this. I am already scheduled to do about 340 miles in training for my 1st ½ marathon in July. I then want to do at least another ½ marathon in September (or maybe be crazy and do a full???)
Goal #2: Run a ½ marathon --- I just have to do it (and train for it) at this point. I have already registered for the Rock’n’Roll ½ marathon in July and am super excited to complete it! I hear that it’s a good race and I’m excited to push myself to a new distance.
Goal #3: Break a 12 min/mile. I stayed in the 13 & 14 min/mile range this year and only got to 12:34 during the Santa Hustle. Hopefully with all the training, I’ll see something in the 11 mins, even if it is 11:59!
Goal #4: Continue to get fit! -- I’ve been slowly but surely losing weight (just under 30 pounds this year!) and continue to do so this year. Also, (and to me MUCH more importantly) this past year has been a complete adventure in trying new sports and workout….from Running, to Barre (which I love!!!) to Yoga Scuplt, to Bootcamps (which I didn’t love so much), to Pilates, it was a completely full year of trying new classes and workout and enjoying, if not loving, them!

Personal:
Goal #1: Financial – I love saving money, but also love spending it. Right now I’m focusing on saving it more and more and spending it less and less
Goal #2: Become More Minimalistic – I feel like I have too much stuff….too much clutter. I has packed my sunroom full of stuff and recently took ½ of it out and LOVE the room now!! I plan on trying to get this to flow to the rest of the house and just keep the things I need and not all the other stuff.
Goal #3: Want/Need – I have been working on this one for a while, but find I’m slipping backwards. I find that these two words are often used interchangeably, but have stark differences. “Need” are necessities, while “wants” are desires….I need clothing, but I want that really cute and expensive dress that I have no place to wear it…see the difference? Basically, I like to keep to the basic necessities (see goal #2), and find when I even say “I need that dress” it then becomes a necessity to me and not a want.
Goal #4: Blog more – I enjoy it, I hope someone else is, why not do it more??? :)

I’m sure that 2013 is going to be as great as 2012 was, if not better! I’m excited for all the good things to come and know that I’m strong enough to overcome the bad things! Here’s to all the things to come!
